Manpower are currently recruiting for a Permanent Maintenance Engineer to work within my clients based in Milton Park, Abingdon. Reporting to the Production Supervisors. Maintain the site mechanical plant and electrical equipment to ensure the efficient and safe working of the plant. Carry out preventative and planned maintenance and installation of new equipment as required. Attend plant breakdowns and ensure plant is functioning as required. Respond to and act upon the fault reporting system. Work closely with maintenance team, process operators, shift supervisors, engineering stores, health & safety co-ordinator and plant manager to ensure the sites targets and objectives are achieved.

Our Client offers a Rate of £17.13 p/h with a shift allowance of £4832.21 per annum and a production bonus.

Working 06:00-18:00. Average of 42 hours shift, over two weeks they work 84 hours.

4 days week 1 (Mon, Tues, Sat & Sun)

3 days week 2 (Wed, Thurs & Fri)

Job Requirements

  • Experience of industrial installations and control systems
  • The ability to fault find, test automated machinery and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic control systems and a general mechanical background i.e. pumps, valves etc
  • Experience in welding would be advantageous
  • Effective communication skills
  • A good understanding of health and safety is essential
  • To comply with all aspects of the Compliance Policy
  • To ensure that all the business/operations are performed in accordance with instructions and procedures and in such a way to prevent any fraudulent activities taking place
  • To comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and to observe the requirements of the Company Safety Policy and other relevant legislation
  • To update all areas of knowledge as required to carry out the job with maximum effectiveness and to attend training/development courses as and when required
  • To comply will all aspects of the HR Policies and Procedures of the Company
  • Maintain the site mechanical plant and electrical equipment to ensure that the production and waste budgets are met.
  • Carry out and complete preventative maintenance work orders as required.
  • Carry out and complete tasks from the fault reporting system as required.
  • Enter all tasks carried out during the shift in the mechanical log book.

Key accountabilities Relating to Quality Systems

  • Complete and sign all process control sheets relative to the processes you are engaged in prior to the end of the day. Report all quality concerns immediately to your line manager
  • Ensure that you adhere to the quality requirements as specified in the sites quality system for all production processes you are trained in.
  • Work with management to develop a good sustainability culture at the works.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Conduct preventative and planned maintenance
  • Dealing with plant breakdowns
  • Carry out shutdown preparatory work
  • Effective communication through daily log book entries
  • Maintaining department and site housekeeping standards
  • Participating in continuous plant improvements
  • Work with engineering contractors as required

Key accountabilities relating to Health & Safety

  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety for not only yourself but others whilst engaged in all work place activities.
  • Ensure all Health & safety standards are adhered to as set out within the sites health & safety management systems.
  • Report all Health & Safety concerns immediately to your line manager
  • Ensure that risk assessments and safe systems of work for each task / process for which you are trained are strictly adhered to. No tasks to be undertaken where a current and suitable risk assessment /SSOW is not in place.
  • Ensure that PPE issued is kept and maintained in good condition
  • Ensure that all tools & equipment that you use are kept in good condition, returned to their nominated storage place after use & any defects are reported.
  • Ensure that all guarding is correctly fitted. Report & action any defective equipment immediately
  • Ensure a permit to work is obtained for high-risk tasks e.g. working at height, entering a confined space working

Education/Qualifications

  • A recognised mechanical trade qualification.
  • A recognised electrical trade qualification.
