I am recruiting for a Java Technical Lead for the AA Ireland. This position will be based at the Head Office in Dublin City Centre within their Change & IT Department.

The AA is one of Ireland's leading consumer services businesses specialising in Motor, Home and Travel services and insurance. With more than half a million customers, they provide emergency rescue and breakdown cover for people on the road and in the home, as well as providing insurance for more than 200,000 customers. The AA employs almost 480 people across the country.

Reporting to: Senior Digital Development Manager

Reports: There are 2 internal employees reporting to this role along with 6 offshore developers.

This full time permanent position is situated within our Agile Web development team which is primarily responsible for the theAA.ie website. TheAA.ie is a significant site providing Motor and Travel quotes along with AA membership. The position is ideally located in our city center Head office close to Grafton Street. The role combines both hands-on development and sprint management, including managing team members that reside offshore.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:
*Manage (Scrum Master) a team of highly motivated developers to deliver sprints on time and to high quality standards, to meet the digital migration strategy by the AA, by gaining good understanding of the codebase (Front End and Back End) quickly and getting hands-on with the development, engaging with the relevant stakeholders at the right time (30% of role)
*Provide technical leadership to the developers ensuring the maintainability, quality and technical direction is kept up so that future development can be incremented seamlessly aiding the digital transformation objective of the AA (20% of role)
*Act as a point of contact to the Development Manager and Head of Development in relation to any progress updates and BAU queries, so that we can continue to provide exceptional customer service to our AA Members, thus growing our membership base (15% of role)
*Work closely with the Digital Product team, triaging and breaking down components of work, filtering information that is to be communicated to the development team, to ensure clear communication and thus eliminate waste in development and the number of bugs raised (15% of role)
*Look beyond the day to day, planning forward in relation to upgrades, improvements, refactoring and process changes, to constantly challenge the way of doing things with the aim to learn from mistakes and continuously improve, ensuring a better velocity and output from the team. (10% of role)
*Mentoring of junior developers, the ability to influence and coach them to progress their professional career, in order to get them to a level that they can develop on their own, providing support and increased velocity for the AA (10% of role)

Personal Skills & Experience:
*BSc or MSc in Computer Science or equivalent desirable, but not essential.
*Java Sun Certifications of distinct advantage.
*7+ Years Java Development Experience
*2+ Angular 2+ development experience
*2+ Tech/Team Lead experience managing one or more Agile sprints
*Clear understanding of the Agile (Scrum) Development
*Java - Experience (Java 8) with SpringBoot Frameworks
*Angular 2+ front-end experience
*Experience working as Scrum Master
*Working with Linux RH and Windows servers
*CI and CD knowledge - Jenkins, Sonar, Nexus, Docker
*Development using JavaScript Frameworks - ie JQuery / KnockoutJS / AngularJS
*Administration of application servers (Apache, Wildfly,...).
*ESB Integration experience desirable - Soap\Rest integration
*Test Driven Development knowledge desirable
*Design Patterns knowledge.
*Experience working with Git source control
*Experience mentoring junior developers
*Experience managing offshore developers
