Great opportunity to work as the Head of Legal for our corporate client based in Uxbridge. Have you taken either a law degree or other degree followed by a Graduate Diploma in a Law course? Are you looking to support and develop existing Paralegal's and Commercial Contracts Lawyer's to enhance their skill-set? Would you also like to the opportunity to work in a strategic role? The Head of Contracts and Legal ("HCL") is responsible for the legal and commercial team within the business. The HCL shall report to the Head of Commercial Management and will directly manage a team that support the legal and contract functions. The role of the HCL requires an individual with a legal qualification and / or proven commercial management background, who can act as a professional lead for the company for all legal and contractual matters.

The individual will have impressive people skills and be able to engage with Senior Managers and the Board of Directors, as well as corresponding with third party organisations.

The HCL will ensure compliance within the businesses corporate policy whilst creating an environment of progressive sales solutions.

You will be based at the Head Office in Uxbridge and shall operate across all areas of the business and will be expected to travel as required, although this is minimal.

Responsibilities

Commercial / Legal Tasks. Legal and commercial review of contracts

New opportunity due diligence including reviews of proposed contract terms and service level agreements. Escalation point for queries from your direct reports.

Contractual administration including letters of intent; third party agreements; direct supplier agreements; confidentiality agreements; contract extensions; etc.

Maintain a library of all new contracts and standard contract document formats

Formalise departmental procedures as required to improve operational efficiency

Responsible for ensuring up to date versions of all company standard agreements upon legislative, corporate and / or policy amendments

Provide commercial and legal training to business partners in the most appropriate method applicable

Attending both external and internal meetings including but not limited to client and third party negotiations

Key competencies, attention to detail and accuracy, leadership skills, planning and organising the workload of a team.

Strong communication skills. Well-presented and professional. Ability to work proactively with different disciplines and be able to adapt your working style as required for the circumstance.

Ability to work to challenging timelines whilst maintaining the perspective to prioritise the workload

Pragmatic approach to balancing sales opportunities and corporate risk

Developed Skills - Commercial Awareness - the ability to think laterally and understand the cost and value drivers within a competitive business environment

Contract knowledge - an understanding of the formation of commercial contracts and the drafting and application of contracts to Group standards

Communication - the individual should have excellent written and oral skills to concisely and clearly provide documented information both internally and externally

Negotiation - experience of meetings with both external and internal clients within a business environment

IT - proficiency with the Microsoft suite of applications, especially Word and Excel

Expresses oneself clearly, concisely & effectively verbally & in writing. Able to deal with different situations, audiences and personalities.

Polite and professional both in person and over the telephone, confidence to deal with people at all levels.

Initiative, drive & flexibility

Uses own initiative & judgement to tackle issues. Be positive and displays "can do" approach; and. Rises to challenges & copes with competing demands.

Planning & organisational skills. Plans ahead & organises both self and team colleagues effectively and manage priorities to achieve deadlines without compromising on quality of work.

Corporate Compliance: Working with and through other internal departments to deliver corporate and functional objectives.
