Manpower is recruiting Production Operatives to work in the Mix Department for a world leader in the production of nutrition and health care brands. You will be working at the Barnwood factory which produces many different, world famous, and most loved Ice Cream products.

This is a temporary role but there is no set end date and there could be chances to become permanent with the company, should vacancies become available.

Working Pattern

You must be able to work shifts. The client are currently working to a rotating 3 shift pattern of 6:30am-2:30pm, 2:30pm-10:30pm, 10:30pm-6:30pm - Monday-Friday. You must be able to work all shifts.

Flexibility may be needed for you to move to a 12hr shift pattern in January 2020, which would involve 2 x 12hr Days, 2 x 12hr Nights and then 4 days off - this would include weekend working.

Your main duties will include:

  • Actively contributing to a safe working environment
  • Carrying out Start-Up/Shutdown procedures
  • Cleaning the machinery and the area around you
  • Line feeding and checking supply of appropriate materials
  • Monitoring quality of the product against set standards
  • Conducting handover activities and recording accurately events on shift
  • Problem Solving - using your knowledge to identify, prioritise and address problems
  • Moving quickly between workstations, ascending and descending steps often carrying loads

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be committed to working in a team
  • Have an understanding of the importance of health and safety in the workplace
  • Have effective problem solving skills
  • Possess a strong sense of responsibility and good attention to detail
  • Be a competent user of Microsoft Office; Excel and Word programmes
  • Have good hand eye co-ordination and finger dexterity
  • Be flexible with their time to support the needs of the business
  • Possess national school leaver qualifications in reading, comprehension, writing and mathematics

Rates of Pay

The rate of pay starts at £9.00ph for the first 12 weeks. This will increase to £13.05ph after you have completed 12 weeks work. Higher rates of pay apply to the 12 hour shift pattern

You will be required to attend a 2 day induction on the 21st and 22nd of November, during which you will be assessed on health and safety, quality checking and hygiene. You will need to pass these assessments before you are able to start. You must be able to start work on the 25th of November 2019.
