My client specialises in the repair and rewind of rotating electrical equipment. They service and supply electrical equipment across a variety of market sectors and industries. They are a fast, flexible, responsive company, equipped to be able to meet high service levels and offer highly professional back up, with more than 30 years of experience in their business sector. They are looking for an experienced Motor Winder Technician to join the existing team.

The Motor Winder Technician will perform all aspects and types of rewinds on Stators/Rotors & Motors. Hand insertion winding experience essential. The Motor Winder Technician will perform electrical troubleshooting and testing, gather and interpret winding technical data. In addition, you are expected to operate as part of a team and be able to transfer/receive technical knowledge and expertise from fellow workers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurate recording of time on job using the Electro-Mechanical Information System, or through manual time-keeping (Time-Sheet) in the event that EMIR is down
  • Complete work to the agreed Estimated Timings (where timings cannot be achieved recording and communicating issues to the Workshop Manager or his Deputy)
  • Be able to interpret winding technical data sheets
  • Collect (reverse engineer) technical winding data from wound components
  • Preparation of slot liners, phase papers etc.
  • Wind Coils
  • Hand Insert Coils & Connecting
  • Electrical Static Checks using Electrical Test Equipment
  • Accurate recording and reporting of parts and consumables used on jobs.
  • Effective Communication and Recording of Issues and/or Delays
  • Inspect equipment and parts for damage, diagnose possible reason(s) for failure

Basic Skills & Attributes required:

  • Good experience of hand-insertion winding of coils
  • Carry out Day to Day Workshop Operations to given priorities and effectively communicating issues.
  • Keeping the Workshop Manager fully informed on matters effecting work progress.
  • Ensuring the Quality of Workmanship and product meets the highest standard.
  • Able to use precision measuring equipment
  • Able to use Hand/Power Tools & Precision Measuring Equipment
  • Basic maintenance of machinery, tooling and equipment

Hours of Work:

Operate core service hours of 0600-1800 Monday to Friday. Daily working hours range from 0600-1430 and/or 0800-1630hrs. However, due to the nature of the business, applicants must be willing to be flexible to work additional hours as and when required i.e. during week and/or at weekends/bank holidays. Reasonable notice will be given along with overtime compensation.
