Manpower have an excellent opportunity for a finance assistant to work on a three month full time assignment at the University of Leeds.

Duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service by effectively responding to financial queries in a timely manner, taking ownership of problems as they arise but escalating issues as appropriate
  • Assist the Faculty Finance Officer with monthly audit requirements, and with financial reporting
  • Assist the Faculty Finance Manager and Finance Officer with planning and forecasting, liaising with budget holders to review spend compared to budget.
  • Monitor budgets, investigating anomalies and correcting where appropriate
  • Ensure accuracy of details of information received relating to paying individuals, e.g. external examiner and dissertation payments and maintaining relevant records
  • Assist the Faculty Finance Manager with completion of financial returns and ad-hoc reporting
  • Update and maintain spreadsheets and schedules ensuring all relevant activities are carried out
  • Carry out day-to-day financial processes including checking purchasing card transactions
  • Create sales invoices as required, ensuring audit compliance and correct financial processes are adhered to
  • Set up "stores" on the On-line store and produce relevant reports
  • Prepare journals
  • Provide cover for setting up new accounts and amend existing accounts
  • Provide cover for managing the finance email in-box
  • Provide cover in relation to expense claims, including dealing with associated administrative elements, ensuring accuracy of information, appropriate authorisation and recording of claims
  • Provide cover for ensuring actions relating to purchase orders are dealt with in a professional and timely manner, liaising with the purchasing satellite office and external suppliers, as necessary. Including co-ordinating and checking contracts, goods receipting and dealing with queries relating to invoices

What will you bring to the role?

  • A finance qualification or relevant experience of working effectively in a finance related role as well as working with financial procedures;
  • Experience of providing an effective customer service experience;
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and handle high volumes of work at peak times;
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a proven ability to produce highly accurate work;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex information, modifying your approach as necessary to suit different audiences;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build positive working relationships with staff at all levels;
  • A proactive and positive approach to activities, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills;
  • Excellent IT skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook;
  • The ability to resolve straight forward or routine problems, looking for a guidance as necessary.
