My Client is a leading Global Manufacturer & I am pleased to be supporting them with introductions to their engineering Team for Multi Skilled Maintenance Technicians (70/30 mechanical bias).

You will already be knowledgeable in the RM & PPM, fault finding, root cause analysis & breakdown support. The role is offered on a permanent basis & you will work on a 3-shift rotation (0600 - 1400/14:00 - 22:00/ 22:00 - 0600). With a background in maintenance working as part of a small team within a chemical factory environment. You will deliver world class levels of reliability and equipment integrity and application of technical expertise to eliminate break downs and improve plant efficiency by maximizing plant availability.

What do you need to succeed as a Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician?

  • NVQ level 3 or HNC in Mechanical/electrical Engineering/Plant Maintenance
  • Experience in either FMCG/Chemical / oil & gas sector
  • 5 years' experience of maintenance (preferably but not essential in an environment where hazardous/flammable chemicals are being handled particularly all aspects of liquid pumping and pipe work systems.)
  • Good working knowledge of industrial services including compressed air systems, cooling water systems, Nitrogen generation.

What will your day look like?.

  • Inspection, overhaul, repair and new installation of a broad range of mechanical systems, at high standards of safety,
  • Maintaining complete and accurate records of technical information and work activity.
  • Identification, recommendation and order creation of replacement equipment and spares to ensure rapid cost-effective repair of production machinery and plant.
  • Compliance with all site Health, Safety and Environmental policies - including regularly completing method statements and risk assessments for work to be undertaken
  • Assisting with development of maintenance schedules to ensure the safe and effective operation of the equipment, machinery, and site infrastructure.
  • Providing training and orientation to operators or maintenance personnel when applicable.
  • Assisting other department team members and external contractors as required.
  • Basic fault-finding skills on electrical panels and equipment
  • Helping build new CMMS system

Working hours & shift patterns:

  • Working on a 3-shift rotation as follows:
    • Lates 1400 - 2200, Earlies 0600 - 1400, Nights 2200 - 0600)
    • With 4 hours of scheduled OT each week (30 min handover prior to shift start)
  • Rostered out of hours and weekend emergency breakdown call-out cover.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good understanding & application of P&ID's, schematics, and operating manuals.
  • Experience in writing method statements, risk assessments & permit to work systems
  • COMPEX certification is preferred but not essential
  • Experience of TPM practices particularly Root Cause Analysis/problem solving
  • A willingness and flexibility, often at short notice, to undertake an extensive range of tasks.
  • Applying operating policies and procedures;
  • PC skills; CMMS systems, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook email); and other applicable applications;
  • Good communication skills with co-workers to accurately provide and receive direction.
