Field and Test Engineer

Location: Devonport, Plymouth

Main Purpose of Role

Babcock Mission Systems provides Engineering support to a number of key customers - developing, supplying, installing and commissioning complex electronic information and communication systems and providing through-life in-service support.

To deliver this support an engineer is required to provide electronic system field and test engineering expertise to existing customer contracts as well as business development opportunities. In order to execute the role and associated responsibilities, the post holder will need to have a varied level of knowledge and experience in the following disciplines but not be limited to:

  • Installation and commissioning of complex electronic information and communication systems;
  • Technical fault finding of issues on complex electronic information and communication systems;
  • Conduct of test, evaluation and acceptance activities including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Installation Inspection (II) and System Acceptance Tests on complex electronic information and communication systems;
  • Undertaking of routine scheduled maintenance tasks for assigned projects' systems;
  • Generation of Health, Safety, and Environmental Risk Assessments for assigned project tasks;
  • Maintaining an awareness of design change, updating plans and schedules, monitoring and analysing progress and serving specific task requirements.

Knowledge and Experience

You will require knowledge and practical experience of installation, commissioning and setting to work of complex networked electronic information and communication systems. You will also require IT/Network skills including configuration of various network devices such as routers and switches, experience of systems employing radio frequency techniques, practices and operation of associated test equipment.
