About the role
We're looking for an Accountant within Warships to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
You will support the finance team in the preparation of the monthly financial reporting routines, plus play a supporting role in the production of new contractual reports required by our customer.
You will also support the financial analysis required by the business to make essential cost savings and help the finance team increase controls around budgeting, forecasting and reporting. You will also support monthly project reporting and overhead analysis of the business unit and also provide additional analysis where required to support the business to make improvements.
As the Accountant you will prepare contractually required reports and support development and enhancement of internal reporting, support cost saving financial analysis and assist with quarterly forecast and budget preparation and, prepare monthly overhead financial reports and project accountants in preparation of monthly reports. You will produce balance sheet reconciliations and monitor SRNI/GRNI balances and lead monthly invoicing process.
What do I need to do the role?
You will need previous experience in a similar accountancy/finance role.
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders at a senior level
- Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
- Experience of Finance IT applications would be preferable (IFS etc).
You will need to be qualified as AAT or part qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA.
What else do I need to know?
- The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
