Manpower are recruiting for a temporary medical directorate coordinator to work on a 12 to 24 week assignment at the University of Leeds.

Purpose of Post

The post holder will work with the Clusters across the Medical Directorate and play a key role in supporting the delivery of cross cluster national projects and initiatives including supporting the expansion of the NIHR's Associate PI Scheme, developing online resources to engage those new to research and supporting the development of medical directorate wide websites. The post will involve problem solving, analysis and presentation of information and will require a high level of numeracy. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to support a developing area of expertise that will add value and support NHS engagement in a national network.

What does the role entail?

Associate PI Scheme

Supporting the expansion of the Associate PI Scheme across all specialty areas including:

  • Liaising with the Medical Royal Colleges to obtain endorsement for the scheme
  • Dealing with internal and external queries about the Scheme
  • Seeking out opportunities to expand the Scheme
  • Developing publicity material and presentations associated with the Scheme
  • Inputting into the development of high quality external and internal reports relating to the Scheme
  • Communicating verbally and in writing with staff and stakeholders at all levels in a

confident and professional manner about the Scheme.

  • Identifying and monitoring project issues and risks and highlighting any concerns as necessary.
  • Identifying and prioritising project tasks, determining dependencies, estimating future requirements and managing conflicts
  • Developing and maintaining a good knowledge of subjects relating to the scheme including an understanding of the business benefits and any technical issues, in order to be able to communicate at all levels on the project's subject.
  • Making use of established information management and distribution processes to help publicise the Scheme
  • Managing project-related administration support (e.g. supporting the Associate PI Scheme Steering Committee)

Engagement with Those New to Research

  • Developing a web presence foranNIHR Offer to health and care professionals new to research
    • Conducting scoping exercises across CRNCC, CRN Specialties and NIHR Infrastructure to support the development of an NIHR Offer
    • Developing and maintaining web pages and an online toolkit for specialty stakeholder Trainee Networks and health and care professionals who are new to research.

Areas of Emerging Technology and Innovation

  • Supporting the development of a web presence for the Cluster Office's large scale projects

Other duties

  • Supporting the continuous improvement and delivery of the Research Excellence Awards
  • Updating and maintaining content on internal and external websites, including the Medical Directorate, Google sites and the CRNCC intranet (The Buzz) pages, which inform the CRNCC and the LCRNs about the work of the directorate. This work includes but isn't limited to specialty pages content (eg refresh of facts and figures or updates to specialty provisions), specialty profiles and identification of case studies, ETI pages, and the Medical Directorate wide organogram
  • Coordinate the updating of the attendance registers for the 31 National Specialty Groups
  • Circulate Medical Directorate wide communications
  • Undertake any ad hoc initiatives as required by the Medical Directorate Leadership Team
  • Develop an awareness and understanding of the key activities of the NIHR CRN and ensure that any work being undertaken by this post is fully integrated and responsive to new developments.
  • Maintain responsibility for own professional development by keeping up to date with relevant policy and key professional issues so as to be able to inform NIHR CCRN colleagues and national debate as required.
