Manpower are working with a manufacturing company in Nottingham who are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer on a full time, permanent basis. As a Senior Automation Engineer you will provide engineering leadership and functionality for process development, manufacturing equipment design, implementation and automation.
You will be responsible for supporting the global vision for manufacturing equipment and factory layouts, including the identification of automation opportunities within manufacturing processes. Create and maintain company-wide engineering design standards and specifications for Automation Equipment & Systems. The engineering designs to include: equipment layouts, equipment sizing, equipment specification, equipment selection, mechanical piping drawings, electrical drawings, bill of materials, bid package drawings, etc
Ideally you will be qualified with MEng or BEng with equivalent experience to MEng level, required in one or more of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics/Robotics Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Lean / Six-Sigma certifications is desirable.
The Senior Automation Engineer will need the ability to independently troubleshoot automated processes or equipment when errors occur and be proficient in reading, interpreting, and drafting control system and electrical wiring schematics necessary.
You will need significant experience in the design (mechanical, electrical, controls) and implementation of custom automated manufacturing systems within a manufacturing environment. As well as this you will need significant experience with collaborative or industrial robotic programming and integration of robots into manufacturing systems. Specific brand(s) of robot not critical - programming experience is transferable.
Knowledge and experience with automated vision and metrology systems is advantageous coupled with proven ability to implement new technologies in a manufacturing, process, or assembly environment that deliver significant financial impact. Experience in implementing control methodology in PLC and HMI platforms is required.
