An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation. Our client, a blue-chip IT company, is currently seeking an Active Directory Specialist based on their customer site in Aldermaston. This is a Full-time, permanent role, Monday to Friday then Monday to Thursday alternating weeks, 8 hours and 20 minutes per day between 08:00 and 18:00 (42 hours 1 week, 34 hours following week) to start ASAP.

Role Overview

We are looking for customer-focused and keen Active Directory Specialist to join the Infrastructure and Tools Team. You should have a genuine interest in solving IT issues and empathetic to customer needs and requirements. Day to day tasks include expert management and troubleshooting of Active Directory services and issues within a complex locked down GPO structure. You should possess good written and verbal communication skills, be willing to collaborate with the wider IT support teams and help develop a strong partnership with our customers' IT Leadership.

The successful candidate will be responsible to supporting a strategic change to the service model and implementing new statements of work. This will require working closely with the Service Delivery Manager and Project Manager to define and implement a more agile and collaborative structure which is capable of blending BAU support with short term projects and ad-hoc requests, where scoped and agreed. This will be achieved by following Agile and ITIL Continuous Service Improvement methodologies.

Detailed Job Description

  • Provide expert troubleshooting for multi forest Active Directory service issues (DFS, DNS, WINS, LDAP etc)
  • Promote and demote domain controllers
  • Support AD name resolution technologies (DNS, WINS, DHCP, Infoblox)
  • Implement AD security methodologies (JEA, JIT, Delegation models and Tiered Admin model etc)
  • Perform AD schema extensions
  • Create PowerShell scripts
  • Support Azure AD, AAD-DS and other Azure technologies
  • IDAM project delivery & process design
  • Automation of existing process
  • Simplification of complex IDAM processes & tools
  • Maintaining security, standards and high availability of AD architecture
  • Design and review any required changes to Active Directory with a specific focus on structure, delegation models, tiering and management.
  • Writing, editing and testing policies with customer service always in mind.
  • Support for incidents, acting as 2nd and 3rd line support

  • AZURE popular products such as Backup; Storage; Multifactor Services; Clustering;
  • Software deployment and 3rd line support and troubleshooting
  • Generic Desktop support
  • Device Control and Management
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Understand MSI technology
  • Application layering (VMware App Volumes)
  • Scripting experience using BAT, PowerShell, C# and VB Scripts
  • Ability to create and run reports
  • Awareness of Change and Release Management
  • Understand FSMO roles

Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge across SCCM; WSUS; SCOM 2012; AGPM; Lumensions; Minimum 5yrs of active AD role
  • ITIL Foundation certified with a broad experience across Service Management disciplines and Agile delivery
  • Some Business Intelligence / Data expertise using Microsoft products
