About the Role
Here at Babcock International we're looking for 2 Over Side Services Controllers to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy.

Using your working knowledge of Mechanical/Electrical Systems and experience of working on board submarines you'll lead the Over Side Services Control Process for the Ship Control Office (SCO) whilst the Submarine is docked at the facility. Your responsibilities will included, but won't be limited to, maintaining manual and electronic services logs; conduct regular audits and report on installed over side services; assist the SCO Engineers in the control of hot work and painting activities on the submarine, as well as in the control and monitoring of compressed/bottle gas. You'll also assume the responsibilities of the SCO Engineers (within predetermined limits) as and when required, in their absence.

What do I need to be able to do the role?
You'll be qualified to a minimum BTEC Level 3 in an Engineering/Technical discipline or NVQ Level 2 with relevant experience. Submarine experience is also essential for this post.

We would also like you to have some or all of all the following:

  • Knowledge and experience of submarine systems (mechanical/electrical)
  • Nuclear refitting environment / installation of services experience
  • Proficient in computer databases and spreadsheets.

What else do I need to know?

  • Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this may include obtaining security clearance (SC) or developed vetting (DV) level of security clearances).
  • Successful candidates may be required to complete a medical assessment.
  • Passport/qualifications/ licences must be shown at interview stage
