About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking for a Management Safety Committee Chair to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe.

The Assurance Directorate within Devonport Royal Dockyard Ltd (DRDL) has a vision of facilitating exceptional business performance through independent assurance, which is welcomed by the organisation. As the Management Safety Committee Chair working for the LC/AC 13 Owner you will be an active member of the Nuclear Safety Committee (NSC) and will Chair the subcommittee - The Management Safety Committee (MSC) - providing timely consideration and advice on safety documentation and other safety matters for all areas of the Licensed Site / Authorised Activities. As a member of the Nuclear Safety Committee you'll also report on the matters considered by the MSC, identifying and implementing improvement initiatives.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll be educated to Degree level or have equivalent experience in Engineering/Design. You'll also hold Chartered Professional status.

We would also like you to have the following:

  • Significant experience in aspects of Design and Safety within a nuclear environment
  • Associated experience of project/production areas of the business.
  • Strong Leadership & Management skills
  • Demonstrable experience in chairing technical meetings of multiple stakeholders and varying levels of seniority.

Lastly, well-developed engagement and communication skills coupled with personal drive and determination are essential attributes for this position.

What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
