Manpower is looking to recruit a Warehouse Operative/ FLT Driver for our well established client based in Leeds - LS12 on a Permanent basis.

The candidate should have a minimum of 1-years warehouse experience and also experience driving forklift truck. A up to date counterbalance and/or reach forklift truck licence is essential.

The candidate must also be comfortable with using computers.

Salary £20,070.00 per annum.

Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 5.00pm and Fridays 8.00am to 4.00pm inclusive with half an hour for lunch to be taken as client specify.

The successful candidate will also benefit from 25-days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays, corporate work wear, sick pay, pension scheme, death in service scheme and long service awards.

Job Purpose:

Primarily to provide effective warehouse operation duties for our client business in the leeds branch & sales area. Duties will include but not be restricted too; the correct storage of stocked goods, the continual rotation of stocked items, the picking and preparing for despatch of customer / transfer orders, the safe loading & unloading of vehicles, the close monitoring of stocks, maintaining good housekeeping of the warehouse area and generally working within systems & procedures laid down by the Company.

Key Responsibilities:


  • At all times; to adopt, encourage and enforce our client core values and principles.
  • To receive and accurately process in accordance with Company procedures all Goods-in, checking them for quantity and quality, progressing them to completion (including the 'booking in' of goods if trained & instructed to do so) and to the complete satisfaction of your BM.
  • To receive and accurately process in accordance with Company procedures all site picking lists, checking picked items for accuracy, quantity and quality, progressing them to completion (including the 'booking out' of goods if trained & instructed to do so) and to the complete satisfaction of your BM.
  • To store away all stock goods in a safe, proper and good manner. Operation may / can include; manual handling, climbing up and down safety steps, the use forklift trucks (both Reach and / or Counterbalance), pallet trucks.
  • To Pick / Pack goods for despatch, at all times checking accuracy, correct goods, quantity and quality of goods. Operation may / can include; manual handling, climbing up and down safety steps, the use forklift trucks (both Reach and / or Counterbalance), pallet trucks.
  • The safe loading and unloading of vehicles. Operation may / can include; manual handling, climbing up and down onto lorries, the use forklift trucks (both Reach and / or Counterbalance), pallet trucks.
  • Adopt safe manual handling operations. Lifting and carrying of goods (manual handling) limited to 25kg per person.
  • If trained & instructed to do so, to receive and accurately process in accordance with Company procedures, customer's orders at the trade counter, progressing them to completion and to the complete satisfaction of the customer.
  • If trained & instructed to do so, undertake operation of the trade counter facilities.
  • Maintaining good stock control, stock monitoring and stock rotation.
  • To liaise with your BM (or other designated person) on items of low stock items to ensure that correct stock levels can be maintained.
  • Ensuring at all times a clean & safe warehouse working environment and at all times complying with the Company's policy on Neatness & Order.
  • To regularly remove, skip and never allow the build-up of scrap packing materials, redundant goods and rubbish.
  • To ensure that all stocks are stored in a safe and proper manner, and when handling stocks particular attention is paid to the Company Policy relating to 'safe handling / manual handling / PPE'.
  • To ensure that galvanised spiral tubes are stored in a safe and proper manner, and when handling these tubes particular attention is paid to the Company Policy relating to 'safe handling' and use of PPE.
  • To follow at all times proper spills procedures, dealing with all spills and build-up of any cutting fluid promptly.
  • To ensure that in conjunction with your BM (or other designated person), a pre-shift inspection is completed for all forklifts and that a log of inspections is left at your location for inspection at any time.
  • Report to the BM (or other designated person) / ROM / JMD as soon as reasonably possible, any matter of damage etc. to pallet racking / warehouse doors / building.
  • To become familiar with all aspects of warehouse operations that relates to your position and if trained & instructed to do so, trade counter operations.
  • To work in a professional manner and to respond to site / customer's needs in the appropriate way to maximise potential sales opportunities and maintain good customer relations.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with colleagues, other client branches and staff, to be supportive and courteous at all times and maintain good working relationships.
  • To show a continued commitment to develop product knowledge and attend training courses / presentations / seminars / factory visits as and when required to do so.
  • Any other such duties as maybe required to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the branch.
