About the role:
Here at Babcock International we're looking for a Design Engineer within the Major Structure Group of the Facility Engineering Technical Authority to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

The group is responsible for providing civil and structural engineering technical advice and undertaking design activity on facilities throughout the dockyard including docks, buildings, equipment for ship refit activities and supporting infrastructure.

You will be undertaking professional design tasks and/or design substantiations for the repair/development of Nuclear Safety Related and Non Nuclear Facilities throughout their lifecycle.

As the Design Engineer you will deliver technical support for the definition, execution and maintenance of the Design Intent of structures and equipment supporting Nuclear and non-Nuclear facilities owned and operated by the licensee/company

What do I need to do the role?
You will have a degree in Civil, Structural or related engineering discipline and be or working towards becoming chartered.

You will have experience in a number of the following areas:
* Structural analysis
* Reinforced concrete marine and building structures
* Steel marine and building structures.
* Foundations, soil/structure interaction and geotechnical engineering
* Ageing management of structures

What else do I need to know?
* The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
