Field Mobile Support Team Cadet Armourer
Home based (South West)

About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Field Mobile Support Team Cadet Armourer to join the team.

Babcock has developed a new Cadet Equipment Support (ES) solution for approximately 1500 Army Cadet Units and detachments across the UK. This will include provision for the University Officer Training Corps (UOTCs), school Combined Cadet Forces (CCFs) and Army Cadet Force (ACF) units. Our service will consist of Mandatory Equipment Inspection (MEI), Maintenance and Repair Levels 1-2 (MRO 1-2), and husbandry advice for all approximately 33,000 weapons of different types and selected other items of military equipment as per the agreed inventory.

Our service will be delivered by a team of regionally based Armourer Mobile Support Teams (MSTs) who will deploy in Babcock vehicles to conduct annual MEI and MRO1-2 (ES level 1-2 repair) for all in-scope weapons, optics and instruments held by Army Cadet organisations across the UK site.

You will predominantly be based from home with frequent travel around the Cornwall area, therefore you must be happy to travel around the South West.

What do I need to do the role?

You must hold a Class 1 Armourer qualification and B1 Driving Licence.

You must also possess experienced IT skills with a good understanding of MS Word and Excel, and are competent at utilising laptops and diagnostic computers.

What else do I need to know?

  • Ability and willingness to work away from home location, in all weathers throughout the year.
  • Capable of in depth engineering work on Cadet Weapons.
  • Adept at reading and utilising repair manuals, spares lists through modern media assets as required.
  • Prepared for outdoor work all year round, flexibility in working across all vehicle platforms to assist team ethos
