Here at Babcock International we're looking for a Change Control Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

As a Change Control Manager you'll work within the Submarines business unit supporting the management of the RDAR Specification Change process, reviewing Work Specification Change Requirements, supplied by the MoD via RDAR and checking for contractual accuracy.

You'll use your experience of submarine systems and/or marine based engineering to;- raise survey observations; ensure all Change Control records/reports are contractually accurate; monitor, capture and report variance against project performance; ensure requirements for contractual Concessions are captured, collated and passed to the relevant originators for action; review project information related to variance whilst making recommendations to the BSM (Change Control); ensure Variation Orders (VOs) are raised and accurate.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll have a minimum of HNC in an Engineering discipline, however consideration may be given to Technical qualifications or significant transferable experience in a relevant engineering role.

We would also like you to have experience in the following areas:

  • Submarine systems and/or a marine based engineering environment.
  • Proficient use of Project Management Tools and the Project Lifecycle.
  • The Project Delivery Framework and Project Management principles.

Lastly, you'll be able to demonstrate a continual improvement mind set and strong communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with internal and external customers and stakeholders.

What else do I need to know?

  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
  • We are happy to talk about flexible working. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.
