About the Role

Here at Babcock International we're looking for a Senior Configuration Engineer to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

In order to deliver the MOD's submarine programme over the next 40 years, significant programme of infrastructure investment is required on the Devonport site to meet the needs of the future MOD ship and submarine programmes. A new Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) Business Unit is driving the development of Devonport's Infrastructure to support the future needs of our customers. There are a variety of Projects requiring Configuration support including the provision of a Defuel capability for out of service Submarines, and facilities to support the arrival of Astute Class submarines.

As a Senior Configuration Engineer you'll be part of a Team who are committed to the development and implementation of configuration management for MIP. Your areas of responsibility will include providing advice and administrative support on the necessary due process and configuration management arrangements required to maintain the design intent. You'll assist the Project Manager in ensuring the efficient document management and configuration of key project deliverables. In addition, you'll provide supervision of, and technical support to, the Configuration Engineer(s) and TQDM(s) assigned to the project. You'll also assist the Configuration and Due Process Manager in the administration of configuration and Software management tools e.g. CDMS Vault, SCaNDS.

What do I need to be able to do the role?

You'll hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. Configuration Management or Quality Management experience in a regulated environment, plus an understanding of relational database methodology would be advantageous.

We would also like you to have some or all of the following:

* Knowledge of Autodesk Vault, Microsoft Office, Access and SharePoint.
* Demonstrable experience in a supervisory capacity.
* Excellent attention to detail ensuring document compliance
* Excellent time-management and organisational skills
* Ability to prioritise and work on own initiative

Lastly, you'll have good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to interface effectively with people at all levels of the organisation.

What else do I need to know?

The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
