An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation. Our client, a blue-chip IT company, is currently seeking a Deskside Support Engineer III based on their customer site in Alfreton. This is a Full-time, temporary role until end of February 2021 to start ASAP. The role is paying up to £18.36 per hour via Ltd/Umbrella company.


Job Description: Responsible for providing on-site desktop and Retail Shop Support for technical infrastructure for end users; advising and assisting users in solving problems related to software, hardware, networks and peripherals using available technology. Analyses system needs, troubleshoots problems. Provides user support, new hire system set ups and desktop/laptop software evaluations. Deployment of updates/roll-outs. 80% software support with some knowledge of desktop hardware, OS, servers, and data bases. Provide quick response and maximum uptime of users. Understands customer goals; identifies consequences of various solutions.

The role involves:

  • Providing technical expertise at a local support onsite support level, liaising with other support teams and third parties
  • Ability to handle Local and Retail support non-routine queries and resolve issues through application of previous experience.
  • Provide printer support
  • Provide mobile device support
  • Assist with Backup Media tape changing daily
  • Maintain and update the asset database knowledge database and contribute to the maintenance of relevant procedures, operating and user manuals as directed
  • Act as an onsite point of escalation for the first line support agents and provide advice as required


  • In depth knowledge of Windows 10 operating system and associated technologies
  • Good PC hardware awareness and fault diagnosis skills
  • Experience of working in a service role
  • Minimum 2yrs industry experience


  • ITIL (or working towards)
  • MCSE qualification (or working towards MCSE)
