About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Marine Mechanical Engineering Trainer to deliver classroom training to new Engineers joining the Royal Navy, this will include practical and theory sessions to a class of 8 (normally circa 20 students but reduced due COVID) This will be an overview and introduction to the topic.

Your main duties will be:

  • To instruct within the Engine Workshop, theoretical and practical technical training on Mechanical engineering techniques, complex systems routines, maintenance, diagnostics and repair techniques to the equipment and systems of RN warships and other Navies vessels in accordance with the Training Plan and Sultan TSOP procedures.
  • To assist in maintaining and updating training documentation.
  • To assess student course work and provide feedback on performance
  • To carry out the level 0 and level 1 training equipment maintenance for which suitable qualifications and experience are held


What do I need to do the role?

You'll need to hold a minimum Level 3 NVQ/C&G in a related Engineering discipline.
Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

  • Must have a mechanical background with specific engine knowledge, this could be from marine, aerospace, vehicles, air conditioning, gas turbines
  • Confident in delivering training to a class of students, no previous teaching experience is required.

  • This role provides a good work life balance and the opportunity to pass on knowledge to the next generation of Engineers
  • You will also gain a Level 4 Teaching qualification
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
