Location: Plymouth, Devonport (role can be completed remotely; location is flexible with limited need to attend site)

About the Role:
We are looking for a Management Safety Committee Chair to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We are a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safety by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
The Assurance Directorate within Devonport Royal Dockyard (DRDL) has a vision of 'facilitating exceptional business performance through independent assurance which is welcomed by the organisation'. DRDL is a growing business with new facilities being developed which brings with it exciting new challenges and opportunities, the department itself is also growing to provide a level of independent oversight to DRDL's business and we are excited to offer a permanent role that supports the Nuclear Safety Committee.
We are looking for a nuclear professional with substantial experience within the nuclear industry to act as the Chair of the Management Safety Committee which acts as a sub-committee to the Nuclear Safety Committee (NSC) a contributes to Devonport's Challenge Function. The successful candidate will exhibit strong leadership and interpersonal skills and be able to influence the business at all levels.
What do I need to do the role?
Leadership & Management skills required including demonstrable experience in chairing technical meetings of multiple stakeholders and varying levels of seniority.
Experience in aspects of Design and Safety within a nuclear environment and associated experience of project / production areas of the business.
Strong verbal and written communication skills enabling consistent challenge and advice.
Qualifications include a degree or equivalent experience in Engineering/Design and chartered professional status.

Whilst this work is wholly undertaken for Devonport, the individual will have full flexibility and the ability to work from home, therefore location is not an issue. We are happy to talk about flexible working. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.

The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance and further checks to be able to see Naval Nuclear Propulsion Programme Information (NNPPI).
