Job Title: Senior Training Manager - Future Design and Media Creation

Purpose of role
Babcock is involved in a project to transform and modernise education and training services to the Royal Navy. The training services comprise of Naval technical and tactical training courseware. As a large project with diverse stakeholders there is a requirement to ensure a consistently high standard across the large quantities of courseware and associated media being analysed and created to support future training.


Responsible to the Director of training (Capability) the STM FDMC is required to conduct the management of resource, budget, governance, continuous improvement and delivery output for all training design and media creation across the Project Selborne Contract.


The role will be based in the Portsmouth area with requirement to travel.


Main Tasks
You will be accountable for proactively managing training design and media projects using proven Project Management Techniques including governance techniques, managing the Schedule, Risk, Budget and necessary Stakeholder Management, providing monthly Project Plan reports and updates


You will also be accountable for all Selborne Training development utilising the programme's Media production, Training Design, Development and Acceptance Processes.


You will lead the introduction of new approaches in the design and development of modern learning solutions, supported by the STM iSAT and STM Innovation & Modernisation and be accountable for the management of FDMC resource utilisation through effective scheduling and resource planning to ensure that operational commitments are met and that individuals are correctly trained and skilled for the roles they are performing.


You will work pro-actively with the customer's training requirements setting organisation to ensure that training design support of emerging training requirements is effective, resourced and policy compliant and support the identification, development and implementation of optimisation and Continuous Improvement initiatives, providing visible change leadership, through appropriate challenge, identification and removal of blockers, allocating resource where required.

Required skills, experience and qualifications
You will require significant experience of Management of Training Design and Media teams to achieve required outputs / deliverables, experience of operational management including evidence of managing budgets and driving efficiencies and significant experience within the development of training / education solutions or demonstrable ability within this field.


You should be educated to NQF Level 6 with an NQF Level 5 qualification in Management or similar discipline. You will also require experience in successful delivery of Training Modernisation projects and experience of managing teams through workflow tracking tools.


The following would also be desirable:
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience of training/curriculum design using a systems approach to training methodology
* Knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures
* Qualified in Business Improvement Techniques or similar discipline
* Knowledge/Experience of working within Defence Contracts
* Membership of a L&D professional Body
* Project Management qualified (Practitioner)
* IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
