Tooling Design Engineer

Farnham - £38-40k

Manpower are currently looking for a skilled and experienced tooling design engineer to join their busy drawing office. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing a range of jigs, fixtures and tooling for use in both manual and automated production areas across a range of manufacturing disciplines.

Main duties will include:

  • Designing tooling for use in Machining, Casting, Moulding and Assembly
  • Producing 3D models, 2D detailed drawings and assemblies
  • Basic stress analysis of components and structures, FEA and casting flow analysis
  • Design of special purpose test equipment and assembly aids
  • Liaising and collaborating with other technical groups, production and suppliers
  • Creation of factory instruction documentation, parts lists and ensuring costs are understood and communicated

Skills required:

  • Qualified to degree level in a Mechanical discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • Familiar with CAD packages (Siemens Solid Edge would be an advantage)
  • Previous experience of designing bespoke tooling
  • Experience of fundamental mechanical design and geometrical tolerances including best practices for machining and assembly
  • A basic understanding of engineering material properties
  • An ability to create designs from concepts through to final manufactured parts
  • Hands-on shop floor experience is useful
  • An understanding of simple electronics would also be useful

Additional information:

  • Permanent position working Monday to Friday on a day shift with an early finish on Friday
  • £38-40k p.a. depending on experience
