Skilled Wood Machinist

Astley, Manchester

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 14:00pm - 00:00am

Salary: £11.91 (overtime available on weekend)

(Initial temporary basis for 13 weeks - permanent position following 13 weeks)

Our client is the UK's leading manufacturer of MDF products with sites throughout the country - due to a period of growth they are now looking to recruit Skilled Wood Working Machinists for their base in Astley. As a skilled machinist, your role will be to set their production lines, in line with daily production plans. You will be expected to keep change over times to a minimum and ensure the products being produced are to the high-quality standards expected. You will be working in a culture of continuous improvement where all team members will be expected to contribute in maintaining and improving high customer service levels.

Duties:

  • Set and run the line including Weinig spindle moulding machines.
  • Ensure sanded and primed finish to be that of a very high standard.
  • Daily production/output plans are achieved.
  • Manage the automated production data collection system.
  • Ensure the products being produced are the quality standard expected.
  • Must comply with H&S policies and procedures and ensure the team are working safely.
  • Be willing to join CI project teams and contribute towards maintaining and improving high customer service levels.
  • Be expected to be flexible on setting other production lines within the plant - work to a standard of 5's on the production lines.

Skills and experience:

  • Preferred experienced machinist, ideally with specific experience of setting and running Weinig Spindle Moulders, SCM and Ledermac through feed moulders.
  • Basic computer skills - basic experience of Microsoft office systems.
  • Preferably have worked in a CI environment/culture.
  • Previous experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
