Location: Devonport, Plymouth
Starting Salary - £43,445
About the Role
We're looking for three new Project Managers to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
The Estates Project Department is responsible for delivering extensive and diverse infrastructure upgrades and improvements across the entire Devonport Site and often beyond. A significant, recent commitment to invest in site improvement necessitates expansion of the existing core team to accommodate delivery.
As a Project Manager you'll be using your significant previous experience in the delivery of infrastructure projects to manage specific property and facility projects within Devonport Royal Dockyard. This includes updating programmes and financially managing each project from concept, feasibility and Design stages, through implementation and to formal hand-over.
What do I need to be able to do the role?
You'll be an experienced Project Manager with a minimum of HNC in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent and have significant experience in the delivery of infrastructure projects. You'll have a high level of organisational skills and the ability to self manage and deliver key outputs with little guidance.
We would also like you to have the following:
- Association of Project Managers (APM) qualification
- Good knowledge of APM philosophy
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications, including strong Excel skills
Lastly, strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential attributes for this post, as is the ability to interact confidently and effectively with senior management and both Babcock and MoD senior stakeholders.
What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This will require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
Babcock offers a supportive environment including: enhanced employment terms and conditions, money purchase pension scheme with life assurance, share ownership scheme, Occupational Health services, flexible working hours (only non-industrials), career opportunities and specialist advice and guidance from our Learning & Development teams. Additional benefits may also apply for Management posts.
