An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our Global FMCG Client, the powerhouse behind Persil, Comfort, Surf and Ben & Jerrys, are currently seeking a Formulation & Appraisal Scientist, based both at their Materials Innovation Site in Liverpool AND their research site in Port Sunlight, Wirral. This is a full-time temporary role for 6 months, 37.5 hour week, paying up to £34,247 per annum pro rata.
The role will involve working some days in Liverpool city centre and some days in Port Sunlight Wirral, in conjunction with a mix of home working. The days will vary week by week so it is important that you can meet this flexibility.
Job description
This role is for a Formulation & Appraisal Research Scientist working at Unilever R&D as part of the Home Care Science & Technology Group. This is very much a formulation role around research and investigation geared towards innovation.
The role will support the Advanced Materials & Surface Science (AMSS) Programme in delivering the Unilever Clean Future ambition and developing the next generation of surface cleaning and care products. The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team and assist in the characterisation, formulation and appraisal of new sustainably sourced and biodegradable Home Care ingredients.
The principal responsibilities of the role are to:
- Devise and conduct mechanistic studies to investigate the mode of action of new Home Care ingredients.
- Formulate the ingredients into prototype formulations.
- Support the development and validation of parallelised and automated appraisal assays.
- Assess the performance and stability of formulations using manual and automated assays.
- Generate robust data packages and reports to support patenting, data publication and product claim generation.
- Develop existing end explore new techniques and ways of formulation.
Working under the guidance of Worksteam Leaders, the role holder will be responsible for setting their own day to day work plans and proposing suitable experimental approaches. The role holder will also be expected to analyse data, report results and make recommendations both in written and verbal form to key stakeholders.
