About the role
We're looking for a Production Engineer/Estimator within the Factory Group to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

As the Production Engineer/Estimator you will perform planning and estimating tasks to support the provision of fabrication work and/or equipment repair and overhaul activities and undertake production control activities in support of equipment fabrication repair and overhaul to meet specified project delivery and ISO 9001 quality targets.

The role involves interfacing with our internal customers within Devonport Royal Dockyard and the production team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the following. You will be carrying out detailed planning of assigned work scope for projects/contracts to enable relevant control documentation to be produced for effective implementation by production group as well as estimation of work packages including the provision of labour and material estimates

Also create and maintain job-plans and parts-lists for new and existing equipment within the PPS production system. Raise work instructions (MTs) iaw with technical drawings, work-list and contract requirements, inc quality documentation. This will include liaising with customers and project groups at progress meetings and monitoring and reporting progress against schedules to ensure delivery to plan.

What do I need to do the role?
You will have an ONC or equivalent in engineering discipline or equivalent technical experience.


We would also like you to have experience in the following areas:
*Use of databases and IT systems
*Report writing and delivery
*Managing projects
*Continuous improvement activities
*Interpretation of technical drawings
*IT skills/data manipulation
*Forward planning and risk analysis

Lastly you will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication and be self-motivated and adaptable.


What else do I need to know?
*The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
