A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to work full time at our client's site in Luton. This is a temporary role until August 2021, working Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 4.30pm and Friday 8.00am - 1.00pm 40 hours a week, paying £21.35 per hour PAYE.

**All successful candidates will have a drugs screening**

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, the position offers a good mix of 'hands-on' and office-based work, as well as plenty of opportunities to work with other departments to achieve and maintain good production processes. You will work within the Assembly and Test department. The position offers a chance to work mainly with the following processes: automated assembly, hot-plate welding destructive and non-destructive pressure vessel testing, hydraulic flow measurement and laser marking/engraving

Responsibilities

  • Resolving day-to-day issues with existing production equipment and processes
  • Producing routings for new products and product variants
  • Specification and implementation of manufacturing processes to produce new products
  • Creating specifications for new process equipment, placing orders and working with suppliers to implement
  • Ensuring new and existing process equipment meets legal and company standards for safety
  • Use Lean and Six Sigma tools to ensure manufacturing processes demonstrate repeatability and OPH targets
  • Engage with Kaizen projects to implement process improvements
  • Skills and Experience

  • Experienced working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical engineering background
  • Troubleshooting and setting of automated assembly equipment
  • CAD/CAM experience - particularly with jig and fixture design
  • Reasonable level of IT literacy (Office suite, Minitab, etc.)
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma training of great benefit
  • SAP experience will be of great benefit
  • Electrical/control knowledge of benefit
  • Good working knowledge of HSE best practice is essential
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Equivalent Vocational Qualification
  • 3-5 years related experience
