About the role

Here at Cavendish Nuclear, we are proud to be the UK's leading supplier to the nuclear industry and a growing global force. The breadth of our expertise means we are able to offer unrivalled experience and specialist knowledge across all aspects of the nuclear energy life cycle, from design and build, through operations and maintenance, to decommissioning, waste management and remediation.

We are looking for a Head of Radiation Protection to support the SSHEQR Director in ensuring the Cavendish Nuclear SHEQR arrangements are adequate to maintain safe and compliant operations and that the arrangements are being delivered as designed in the area of Radiological Protection.

As the Head of Radiation Protection, you will be accountable for the provision of Radiological Protection arrangements and ensure that they are maintained in line with current company/regulatory legislation, guidance and best practice. You will define SQEP requirements for Radiation Protection Advisers and Radiation Protection Supervisors, as well as assisting the Cavendish Nuclear delivery organisation in the appointment of sufficient RPAs and RPSs.

You will be accountable for driving the Occupational Health agenda within Cavendish Nuclear, specifically in relation to Medicals and Occupational Health Surveillance. You will provide Radiological Protection and Occupational Health Subject Matter Expert advice and support to the organisation. In addition, you will provide and manage a certified and registered RPA Body on behalf of Cavendish Nuclear to facilitate the provision of legal RP advice internally and to external customers.

You will support other areas of the business by acting as the technical point of contact for the designated Occupational Health Service Provider, embed H&S Teams in identifying and delivering Health Surveillance Programmes, and support internal governance activities from Radiological Protection and Occupational Health perspectives.

This is a highly prestigious role within the UK's leading nuclear organisation and reporting directly into the SSHEQR Director. This is a great opportunity and scope to get involved across a wide variety of high-profile nuclear sites across the UK. We have a supportive work environment where innovation is at the heart of what we do.

  • Relevant and recent UK industry experience
  • Radiological protection leadership and experience

Desirable:

  • Membership of an industry professional body

What else do I need to know?

You will work a minimum of 37 hours per week Monday to Friday and we offer flexible working. We are flexible with your location and can offer remote working with site visits. In addition, you must be a British national and be able to achieve the appropriate Security Clearance level for this role.
