About the role
We are looking for Senior Safety Engineers to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world.

For more than three hundred years Engineers have been shaping the dockyard to ensure it supports the fleet and protects the nation. We need you to help continue this tradition, transforming, sustaining and improving Devonport to meet the demands of the Royal Navy for the next hundred years.

As a Senior Safety Engineer you'll be responsible for providing Babcock's operations with specialist knowledge and support relating to Nuclear and Radiological safety, including radiological protection and human factors, ensuring our ongoing compliance with regulations. You'll provide leadership and direction on safety projects in line with strategy; ensure compliance with statutory legislation and the terms of the Site Licence; deliver Nuclear Safety Cases; develop and implement Nuclear Safety processes and standards and provide technical advice on Nuclear Safety Assessment processes and policy.

Help us to create the naval base and dockyard of the future and in return you will receive a competitive salary, good benefits package and the unbeatable quality of life that comes with living in one of the most beautiful corners of the UK.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll be educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and/or have relevant experience; you'll also be registered as a Chartered Engineer (or be working towards chartered status).

We would also like you to have the following knowledge and experience:
* Nuclear safety policy and methodology
* Safety Case development leadership
* Experienced in leading, motivating and supporting design teams

Lastly, you'll need to possess good interpersonal skills and be competent in verbal and written communication, with the ability to operate and interface effectively with Senior Managers and internal stakeholders.
