About the role

Here at Babcock International we are looking to recruit 4 x Combat Systems Mechanical Fitter's to join our Fleet Engineering department.

You will work within a team which is responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, testing and commissioning activities on specialist hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Working on board submarines and in workshop environments, you will carry out scheduled maintenance and will diagnose and repair mechanical faults, ensuring that all activities are undertaken in accordance with departmental procedures and Health & Safety legislation.

You must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces and may occasionally be required to travel within the UK and internationally.

What do I need to do the role?

You will have demonstrable previous experience in Mechanical Fitter roles and experience of working with high pressure hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Although not essential, experience of any of the following tasks would be advantageous:

* Hydraulic/Pneumatic valve overhaul
* Hydraulic/Pneumatic system and commissioning skills
* Hydraulic/Pneumatic fault finding
* Valve removal & replacement
* Interpreting and working from engineers drawings & procedures
* Pressure testing experience
* Submarine weapons discharge equipment

You will demonstrate attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality work to meet rigorous acceptance standards.

Key areas of competency we require are as follows:
* SVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering / completed Modern apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
* Experience of Maintenance Procedures, Risk, and COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work
* Diligence and attention to detail when undertaking all tasks
* Excellent team working and interpersonal skills

What else do I need to know?

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.

The working hours for this role are a standard 4.5 day week (half day finish on Fridays).
