I am delighted to support our client with the sourcing of a new team of highway CCTV Control Room Operators. This is a very important role which safeguards the well-being of thousands of motorists and road crews daily and you have an opportunity to join a key group of individuals who work both day and night behind the scenes to keep things moving smoothly.
As you will imagine a key aspect of this role is being able to concentrate for long periods of time and being able to act calmly and professionally in times of extreme stress. Being able to communicate efficiently and effectively with emergency services and other supporting services is also an essential skill along with your ability to follow specific routines and recall information accurately for report writing purposes.
This role is advertised as a temporary assignment as the locations of the work can change as road works move - However, these positions will last for the duration of the road works, so they are considered to be a long-term assignment. These positions will also suit someone with their own transport as the locations are often not accessible by public transport.
The hours of work may vary but is usually offered on shift patterns or rotas of around 12 hours per shift and these shifts can be both days and nights. Therefore, we are interested in talking to those who can commit to working both shifts (the shift rota is planned and published, so this helps you to organise your personal commitments).
This is an interesting and important role and you will provide a valuable service to the public. Due to the nature of the work, you will need to attend work in the control room which has been made Covid safe and social distancing is respected in the workplace.
The ideal candidate will also hold a CSCS card or above as some of the control rooms are within construction environments and a full UK driving licence in advantageous. Full training and induction is provided for the right candidate.
