About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit an Electrical Fitter to undertake electrical fitting activities and conduct operations on Waterfront systems and equipment.

Specific responsibilities will include carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on ventilation systems, fire alarms, pumps, control gear, building maintenance, and all general maintenance of the land based systems jetty itself including all services/areas required for the boats.

It is important that applicants are comfortable working in confined spaces, occasionally working to heights and in inclement weather conditions.

This is an exciting opportunity to advance your knowledge and broaden your experience working on a wide variety of different systems, equipment and buildings.

What do I need to do the role?

You will have previous Electrical Fitter experience within a maintenance environment with experience of working with fire alarms.

You will have a recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent NVQ or City and Guilds).

You will be able to understand and read drawings and have the ability to think on your feet and problem solve with a high attention to detail and fault finding.

You will also be a proactive individual, relatively autonomous, and follow/work to instructions and set procedures whilst demonstrating excellent team working and interpersonal skills.

What else do I need to know?

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.

The shift pattern for this role is 8:05 - 16:45 Monday to Thursday and Friday 8:05 - 12:05 (36 hours in total) with occasional overtime opportunities: evenings (time and a half) and weekends (double time).
