Our client is one of Suffolk leading road hauliers who have been in continuous family ownership since their beginnings almost 90 years ago. They have a professional, quality and people-led approach to business that has seen them go from strength to strength. They specialise in UK wide full load distribution as well as operations covering pallet network across East Anglia.

They seek an experienced Traffic Planner to join the busy transport office at their Stowmarket Depot, who will report into the Network Services Manager.

The main duties of a Traffic Planner will include:

  • Planning palletised freight collections and deliveries around the region's road network considering priority freight, drivers health and safety and vehicle load limits.
  • Arrange appropriate resources to cover customer bookings and liaise with customers, network partners and subcontractors, as necessary, to ensure customer requirements are met in full.
  • Managing drivers to ensure compliance with company procedures, health and safety, Drivers Hours, RTD (Working Time) and Tachograph regulations.
  • Conduct investigations and be involved in the disciplinary procedure, when required.

Skills and attributes required:

  • Geographical knowledge of the East Anglia area
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt plans
  • The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Previous supervisory experience would be an advantage
  • Must be trustworthy and able to work unsupervised
  • Self-motivated
  • Computer literate with previous experience of Traffic Management Systems

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Planning palletised freight collections/deliveries using bespoke TPN Connect TMS.
  • Proactively dealing with driver's issues
  • Communicate effectively internally to ensure best utilisation of vehicles and drivers across all activities

Entry requirements:

  • Good IT skills
  • Experience of working in transport or distribution background
  • Experience in planning/routing pallet network deliveries preferable
  • Knowledge of Destin8 system
  • Must be able to cope with a very fast-paced working environment

Monday - Friday 8:30am - 6PM, plus one Sat morning every four.
