My Client is an industry leading manufacturer of highly engineered components and assemblies requiring the tightest dimensional tolerances for a range of demanding automotive and specialist engineering applications. Due to year on year growth, merging market requirements & investment in site expansion, we have an urgent requirement for Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer working on CNC Tooling Machines/Hydraulics/Pneumatic's to join the Maintenance Team as integral part of ensuring that Client focus & delivery is always maintained to the highest quality, with as little down time as possible.

What's in your work DNA?

  • Engineering craft trained to apprenticeship standard.
  • Full Engineering City & Guilds ONC/HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • NVQ level 3 Diploma in Engineering Maintenance (Mechanical).
  • Substantial evidence of competency in a related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in engineering principles and practices, preferably in a machine shop environment, with practical knowledge of fault finding, repair and maintenance of CNC & conventional Machine Tools & ancillary equipment & services.
  • Experience with CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Siemens & Yasnac.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Understanding of technical manuals and engineering drawings.
  • Working quickly, under pressure and strict adherence to deadlines.
  • Can recognise and repair potential safety hazards & suggest preventions .
  • You are up to date with recent technologies in appropriate disciplines.
  • Computer literate, analytical skills and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Keen to find the most economical solution, both in time and money.
  • Be familiar with writing reports on breakdowns or improvements & looking at continuous improvement options.

What will your day look like?

  • Be reactive & proactive around mechanical, electrical or system failure of equipment, services & facilities throughout the site. Assess necessary work and spares requirements, ensuring priorities are recognised. Work on your own or with other technicians to rectify breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Scheduled regular maintenance according to equipment specifications. This will include servicing of equipment in line with OEM recommendations, the replacement of worn & defective parts, diagnosis and recommendation for fault rectification and completing reports to provide the appropriate records. Write and improve PM task sheets for others to follow using OEM manuals and local machine knowledge.
  • Provide comprehensive and regular feedback to the Maintenance Manager on all projects, issues and changes.
  • Utilise and Update CMMS to provide information on breakdown status & generate reports of work done to rectify issues for historical referencing purposes.

Key areas:

  • Installation - be actively involved in the installation of plant and equipment. This includes connection of services & commissioning of machine tools and equipment.
  • Health & Safety - ensure you are responsible for safe working practices, ensuring all Company rules and regulations are adhered to. Ensure procedures for safe isolation of services to machinery are adhered to (Lock Out Tag Out). Wear all personal protective equipment provided by the Company for individual protection. Follow recognised safe machinery standard guidelines, in system/practices.
  • Training - support production operative on new installations, & raising awareness to safe working practices and systems, providing guidance and training to other members of the department to improve the skills matrix.
  • Housekeeping - you will maintain a clean and tidy work area following 5S principles, including arranging for all waste to be removed before it becomes obstructive, in accordance with the environmental guidelines.
