Manpower are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner to work within a prestigious client based in Aston Birmingham.

Our clients Integrated Logistics experts develop, implement and manage solutions that streamline our client's supply chain. They are now looking for a Transport Planner to work within one of our key Customer accounts based within our wider operations team in Integrated Logistics.

Your Role

As a member of a team that will be dedicated to a key account, you'll be responsible for all operational duties relating to the customer's working instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), ensuring that collectively we provide a first class service. Ideally, you will have experience in transport planning (specifically road transport) and will share a passion for providing excellent customer service and building strong relationships with stakeholders.

Your tasks and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate transport services for customer orders, using transport management systems
  • Check orders received from customer for data completeness & format: ensure the order transmission is checked against required data elements to determine if critical information and elements are present and if the formats are according to expectations
  • Handle exceptional freight requests and organise special transport requests, receive and respond in time to customer requests and to proof of delivery requests, track and provide investigation results on deviations to the customer according to the agreed scope
  • Detection and analysis of deviations including responsibility identification (internal or external) and root causes
  • Initiating appropriate action or processes depending upon type of request or deviation and handed over to responsible parties if necessary
  • Creation of non-conformance requests, premium freight authorisations (spot quotes), and management of contract variations/freight costs disputes and claims; tracking and monitoring of requests, deviations and claim resolution. Execute event monitoring services to guarantee agreed delivery service
  • Capture and provision of order status information relating to the customer supply chain, such as order, shipment and inventory information
  • Source spot quotations if required and support claims management process by capturing claims in our data management system; provide input for quality review meetings with the customer and execute system and process demonstrations for the customer if required

Your skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in either freight forwarding or transport planning, vehicle and capacity planning with a key focus on road freight transport - ideally you will have experience of Transport Management Systems and will have a general understanding of statistics and data relating to these
  • Strong customer Service orientation and able to communicate clearly and effectively - an ability to take action to solve problems, communicate effectively and work on your own initiative in a team environment
  • Capability to work with, understand and execute new processes
  • Excellent knowledge of MS office, especially Excel
  • Good understanding of customer quality standards and a respect for confidentiality

This is a temporary position with an immediate start, initially for 2 months but could lead to a permanent role for the right candidate.

Initially you will be remotely with a view to return to the office from the 12th July.

Working hours are 8.30am - 5pm Monday - Friday paying upto £25k per annum
