Would you like an opportunity to gain Human Resources experience in a busy Human Resources (HR) team in a world leading University? Do you have experience of working in an office environment and enjoy working in a role with variety? Are you customer focused with the ability to manage multiple tasks?

We are looking to recruit a pro-active HR Assistant to support the provision of an excellent and effective HR service. You will have experience of working in a customer-facing office environment, with strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to managing a busy workload. With proficient IT skills, including use of excel, you will be able to prioritise your own work to meet deadlines. You will have the ability to deal with information confidentially and sensitively, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. You will work as part of a team to provide a high level of customer service to support the recruitment and employment of our 9,500 staff.

As a Human Resources Assistant your main duties will include:

  • To be responsible for the provision of a high quality, proactive HR service across a full range of disciplines, multiple employers and multiple sites
  • To provide practical advice, help and support on the application of policies and procedures and to assist in the writing and implementation of new policies and procedures
  • To work with the Business Management team for new starter set up and leaver processes
  • To lead on all aspects of Recruitment and Selection including advising on effective recruitment practices, adding value to the process by ensuring highest calibre appointments made and to attend interview panels as requested
  • To lead on the recruitment and administration of agency workers and secondments across all sites working closely with the purchasing team, managers, agencies and relevant external organisations
  • Lead on the HR Induction for all new staff including the development and delivery of the information
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with other teams to ensure close and effective working arrangement
  • To be the first point of contact for advice on Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Leave arrangements and to work closely with Faculty and Central HR to ensure all paperwork is processed in accordance with timeframes

As a Human Resources Assistant you will have:

  • Excellent written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • A proven track record in delivering practical results
  • Ability to exercise initiative & work proactive
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining effective rapport/working relationships and communicating at all levels
  • Excellent team player
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • A problem solving, flexible, innovative and non-bureaucratic approach
  • Enthusiasm and self-motivation
  • Ability to prioritise workload and attention to detail
  • Ability to negotiate and persuade others effectively
  • Excellent IT skills with experience using Google
  • Willingness and availability to travel to other office locations in England

  • Experience of working in HR administration
  • Experience of developing and 'coaching' other team members
  • Experience of leading on small projects
