About the Role
We're looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport with a variety of supporting services. As an Electrical Design Engineer you'll be joining an experienced Building Services team within the Facilities Engineering Department who design Electrical Systems for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities in support of surface vessels and submarines.

As a proven Electrical Engineer you'll provide professional and flexible technical through-life support to maintaining the design intent of extant electrical building services systems and equipment. The secondary purpose of your role is to provide support to the Design Consultancy function of the department whose activities are focused on the provision of new, or modification to electrical systems and assets, as well as undertaking life extensions activities.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll hold a minimum of HNC or equivalent in an Electrical / Electronic Engineering discipline.

You'll also need to have the following:
*Comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles;
*Proficient understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations BS7671;
*Ability to understand and produce electrical engineering drawings;
*Technical experience of electrical systems;
*Design engineering experience.


You'll also need excellent time-management and organisational skills; good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written, including report writing) and the ability to interface effectively with stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.

What else do I need to know?
*If the required knowledge, skills, experience and competences are not sufficient then a Trainee Design Engineer post may be considered for the right candidate
*The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
