About the role
Here at Cavendish Nuclear we are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer based at our offices in Leicester. You will join a team that has vast experience in nuclear engineering and provide professionally competent specialist services to our many clients.
The Senior Designer provides support and technical guidance for a team of multi-disciplined designers. The role will assure the quality of output to the required standards consistent with whole lifecycle from concept to in service support.
The role requires a good understanding of engineering and design practices as relevant to the individuals discipline and the holder must be able to demonstrate appropriate CAD skills as well as good written and verbal communications. Requires specialist knowledge and substantial experience in a design subject area.
The role takes Designs and develops solutions, resolves design issues and problems for a range of specialist design situations. Provides specialist technical advice and guidance to other designers, provides design governance for technical standards for a team.
Although this is supporting clients in the nuclear industry we will consider applicants from all backgrounds including but not limited to Oil & Gas, Defence, Automotive, Manufacturing.
This is a highly rewarding position working within a market leading nuclear engineering organisation that will give you the opportunity to develop your skills and experience across a variety of nuclear projects. We support UK and international nuclear power stations with a range of services and strive to be best in class across our various contracts.
You will need to have in depth experience with CAD as well as having a good knowledge of general engineering drawing practices. We would also like you to have all or some experience with the below duties;
* Ideally practical knowledge of Inventor Autodesk / Vault however would also consider applicants with Solid Works experience.
* Allocating discipline tasks to allocated team of Designers, check team drawing outputs, and ensure inter discipline coordination in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
* Promoting effective co-operation across Design and other functional teams.
* Assisting in the resolution of Production & Technical Queries & development of discipline solutions for the team in relation to manufacturing & installation issues.
* Develop innovative design solutions, and fulfil Design Lead responsibilities as assigned for multi discipline low risk projects.
* Contributing to the preparation/production of drawings in support of basic, detail and production design in line with recognised ISO standards and to the required; time, cost and quality requirements.

* The base location will be Leicester however we operate a flexible working policy with a mix of working from home / office.
