I have an excellent opportunity for 4 x Port Services Operatives to work within a busy ship port based in Birkenhead, Merseyside for a large multinational organisation. Your responsibilities are to Drive tugmasters, trade vehicles and mobile plant (competence and certification is accepted), as directed and with care. Drivers should hold a full current driving license.
Daily Duties:
- Assist ships crews in the recovery of damaged vehicles, shifted loads and spilled cargo as directed.
- Assist within the Terminal in the recovery of damaged vehicles, shifted loads and spilled cargo as directed.
- Undertake any training or instruction in relation to the skills necessary with these duties, or other duties related to port work generally.
- Carry out basic safety checks and report any defects before operating any mobile plant or equipment.
- Carry out daily checks on tugmasters and record the information requested on the daily checklist before each shift.
- Report defects or damage to tugmasters using the defect report form.
- Moor and let go ships as and when this operation is necessary as specified in the stevedoring procedure manual.
- Complete any combination of vessel discharges, loads, turnarounds as may be necessary during a shift period.
- Discharge and load ships as per instructions from the Team Leader/Port Operations Management.
- Undertake continuous working when necessary to maintain vessel schedules.
- Shunt vehicles, trailers and carry out porterage as requested, maintaining the vehicle at the correct height, with the legs in the appropriate position to avoid damage. Attend to special vehicles such as skeletals, swop bodies etc.
Requirements:
- Full Clean Driving Licence, HGV Class 1, Tugmaster Certificate

Salary:
£25,272 working 40 hours per week, extensive benefits package, career progression opportunities.
