About the role
We're looking for a Facilities Engineering Manager (in Babcock the job title is Design & Safety Process Manager) to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

Managing a team you will work to ensure that the facilities meet both the customer needs, and the standards of regulators. The team are often out on site using their Science and Engineering knowledge to understand how proposed and on-going work could affect the design intent of plant. It is the team's role to control the safety case which permits these changes to be made to their nuclear site; therefore attention to detail and a questioning attitude are valued attributes. The role itself would be a good opportunity for an individual with a solid science or engineering background to move into the Safety space.

What do I need to do the role?

* You'll need prior experience in an engineering environment within the high hazard industry.
* Experience a managing a team
* Experience in Asset Management/plant maintenance and operations is desirable.
* Engineering Degree or specific relevant experience with a minimum NVQ level 4

What else do I need to know?

* The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
