We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Technical Engineer (Electrical) working within Defence Systems Technology (DST).

DST is a business unit within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group. Working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, DST works with a number of key clients domestically and internationally. We're based at a number of sites in the UK and overseas.

The difference the new Senior Technical Engineer will make

You will be responsible for managing the electrical engineering aspects of the support solution for equipment's and systems contracted to Defence Systems Technology (DST) Marine systems, in order to deliver improvements to the services offered to the Royal Navy to the benefit of Babcock and the MoD customer. Your responsibilities will include:
*Investigating and resolving technical queries from a variety of sources, and raising and answering S2022 forms through the Maritime Collaborative Working Environment via the Surface Ship Definition Database (SSDD) and Submarine definition Database (SDD) against scope of the contracts supported.
*Developing and implementing design and supporting improvements, such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) actions, to identify cost/lead-time/availability improvements for the Marine Systems contracts.
*Resolving obsolescence issues identified by the Obsolescence Manager, applying the most appropriate resolution to gain the maximum benefit to the project.
*Performing Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS) Monitoring and suggesting changes to improve the reliability of assets.
*Assisting in maintaining a technical document library. This includes reviewing and updating Books of Reference (BRs) and Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPCs).
*Codifying non-patternised items to allow their supply to the Royal Navy.
*Conduct visits to OEMs and liaise on board with ships staff as required to maintain currency of issues.
*Define and update repair/new-buy Statement of requirements (SoRs).
*Provide Task Approval Form (TAF) support to the Project Managers as necessary.
*Attend Safety Case Reviews and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Who we're looking for

Experience and knowledge
*Understanding of Ship and/or Submarine systems and equipment.
*Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
*Be well versed with design techniques.
*Have an understanding of contract delivery.
*Have an understanding of Procurement processes.
*A good understanding of asset management.
*Ability to produce concise reports and business cases.
*A good understanding of configuration management.
*Knowledge of obsolescence resolution techniques.
*Knowledge of Condition monitoring techniques.
*A level of IFS asset management / Maximo experience would be advantageous

*You will need great communication skills with the ability to speak with stakeholders at all levels and MoD customers.

Qualifications

You should be degree qualified in a relevant electrically biased Engineering discipline or working towards.
