The Company

Our client is one of the largest and best known providers of HGV driver training in the UK. They specialise in getting new HGV drivers the licences and qualifications they need to hit the road and start a new career. The other side of the business is fully managed driver solutions for corporate clients - essentially they then find the new drivers employment with one of their partnered companies... which is where you come in...

The Role

Put simply, you role as the business development executive is to find and win those partnered companies mentioned above. You will be responsible for prospecting and sourcing leads online as well as effective use of social media, before going onto turn those leads into warm interest via effective telephone calls and emails. Those leads are then passed onto the business development manager to close and convert into new clients for the company to place their new drivers into.

As with any sales role a huge amount of self belief and confidence to put yourself out there are paramount to success. A commitment to personal and professional development are essential as there is clear cut promotion and progression in this role so they expect the successful candidate to be money hungry and eager to hit the phones to start earning big bonuses! I'm sure you have heard of the current driver shortage in the UK meaning the business is going to continue to grow rapidly as it reacts to the demand of the market.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creating target prospects lists, researching the relevant contacts within those businesses and penetrating key accounts.
  • Initiating contact with potential customers through cold-calling, email, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Creating relationships with customers to identify their potential needs and qualify their interests.
  • Presenting product information to customers once you have identified their needs.
  • Moving prospects through the lead pipeline and setting appointments for the Head of Business Development when a lead reaches a qualified stage.
  • Ensuring successful follow through of sales cycle by maintaining accurate activity and lead qualification information in CRM application.
  • Collaborating with the wider corporate sales team to ensure the company's goals and targets are met.

Person requirements/preferences

  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, coupled with excellent listening skills and a positive and zestful phone presence.
  • Experience in logistics or driver training would be advantageous but not essential
  • Extremely self-motivated with a diligent work ethic.
  • Good time management and analytic skills.
  • Meticulous organisation skills.
  • Adept computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred but not essential
