About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a FMST Recovery Mechanic to carry out routine and bespoke recovery to a wide range of advanced military wheeled vehicles.

This role covers the breadth and depth of the United Kingdom in support of 1 (UK) Division. We have permanent locations in Catterick, Colchester and Warminster providing teams for Pre-Exercise, On Exercise (out of barracks) and Post Exercise support. The role is a mobile one and as such requires you to spend much of your time away from the permanent location in support of the task, this could include overnight stays of up to 2 weeks away from home.

This is an exciting opportunity in an interesting and varied role, with potential for overseas travel.

What do I need to do the role?

You will need to have a recognised qualification in Vehicle Recovery with a minimum C&G level 3 or BTEC/IMI/NVQ equivalent or has served in HM Armed Forces as a Recovery Mechanic Class One.

You will have a B1 Driving Licence, C+E Driving Licence with driver CPC - clean licence.

You will also have experience on MAN SVR.

Further requirements:

  • Capable of in depth Recovery work and on large, and small vehicles.
  • Able to adapt to a wide variety of unusual vehicle platforms using recognised recovery techniques and skills.
  • Proficient at problem solving using technical knowledge and experience to obtain positive outcomes.
  • Competent level of IT skills enabling proficient use of computer based vehicle management, diagnostic and spares requisition systems.
  • Prepared for outdoor work all year round, flexibility in working across all vehicle platforms to assist team ethos.

What else do I need to know?

Field Mobile Support Teams will work away from home on deployment and work 5 out of 7 days per week (this could include some Saturdays and Sundays).
