Job Title: Supply Chain Specialist - 12 month FTC
SF35189
Location: Devonport, Plymouth
Business Unit: Central Services
Salary: £32,020.00

About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Supply Chain Specialist.

The Ministry of Defence operates a fleet of 11 nuclear-powered submarines that are maintained with the support from Babcock as the MOD's in-service submarine support partner. Babcock's role includes the delivery of operational engineering activities at dockyards in Plymouth and Faslane, as well as supporting the MOD in key strategic and planning activities (mainly conducted from Bristol).

These strategic and planning activities cover a range of areas, including Design Services, Programme Management and Supply Chain - collectively these activities ensure that submarine maintenance programme is achievable and that the required number of submarines will be available to the Royal Navy at all times.

Within the Supply Chain area, one particular activity that helps deliver the submarine maintenance is supply chain mapping. Supply chain mapping is the process of gathering data about the supply chain (ie individual suppliers as well as how those suppliers link together) and analysing how this impacts on programme delivery and/or assessing how a new supply chain may perform.

Main Purpose of Role:

The main purpose of the role is to support Babcock's continued growth in submarine supply chain mapping. You will be responsible for engaging with suppliers to capture upstream supply chain information and integrating this with data from a range of sources to support supply chain mapping analysis.

Reporting to the Senior Supply Chain Specialist, you will facilitate the creation of supply chain maps by ensuring supply chain compliance to requirements and support identification and reporting of supply chain risk.

What do I need to do the role?

You will need to demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills along with an understanding of managing supply chain risk.

In addition, the successful candidate will likely have:

  • An understanding of supply chain relationships
  • Experience of working cross-functionally to achieve a common goal
  • An understanding of manufacturing/engineering environments
  • Competent MS skills, including Excel
  • Reporting experience

Although not essential, a degree in a relevant field of study and/or working towards CIPS accreditation is desirable.

What else do I need to know?

  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
  • We are happy to talk about flexible working. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.
