An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our Global FMCG Client , the powerhouse behind Persil, Comfort, Surf and Ben & Jerry's, are currently seeking a PBPK Modeller. The role is flexible in location, as it will involve home working however will require some travel to our client's research site in in Sharnbrook, Bedford (MK44) on a weekly basis.

This is a full-time temporary role for 18 months, working a 37.5 hour week, paying £40,000 per annum pro rata.

You will provide capability in Physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model development and interpretation related to the toxicokinetics of chemicals in the context of next generation risk assessment (NGRA).

Specifically, you will work closely in a project team exploring the application of modelling to provide advanced exposure assessments for consumers products.

You will have a proven track record in applying knowledge of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) to assess human exposure to chemicals.

You will be required to work with a range of scientific experts in a number of different disciplines, including toxicologists, biologist, mathematical modellers, computational and analytical chemists, risk assessors to translate toxicokinetics prediction output into NGRA context.

Main Accountabilities

  • Apply understanding of ADME to interpret toxicokinetics to inform the development/application of PBPK exposure models
  • Primarily to apply PBPK and/or pregnancy PBPK models for systemic exposure predictions.
  • Independently build and validate PBPK models to support evaluation of absorption and systemic exposure potential from dermal absorption route
  • Communicate with both experts and non-experts scientific work internally
  • Input into the internal scientific research strategy

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience in a relevant scientific discipline (Maths, Toxicology, pharmacology, biochemistry or other ADME/DMPK related science)
  • Practical experience of applying PBPK software Gastroplus (or equivalent) or PK-Sims.
  • Demonstrable experience of using ADME parameters to inform development of (influence of chemical-dependent parameters on toxicokinetics) and interpret output from PBPK models in the context of NGRA
  • Understanding of the in vitro/ in vivo experiments used to describe general ADME principles.
  • Successful track record of applying PBPK and/or pregnancy PBPK into projects
  • Strong problem-solving capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to convey complex scientific subject matter in a simple manner
