Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (CVE - Part21J)
About the role:
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our design and competitions team in Staverton to carry out design checking and approvals and CVE responsibilities on airframe design changes.
Babcock Design and Completions conducts in house design, manufacture, installation, test and certification activities for modifications to Civil and Military Aeroplanes and Helicopters including Major Avionics upgrades, Special Mission conversions and Mission Equipment, External Loads and Night Vision Cockpit conversion.
You'll serve a key role within the Design Office and be involved throughout the entire design process; from initial proposal and costing, through concept, design and testing, to certification. In particular, you'll liaise with multiple internal and external parties during the design process to ensure that their team delivers an airworthy, cost effective design solution on time and to budget.
- The production of engineering drawings.
- The supervision of Designers and planning of team workload to ensure timely delivery of agreed milestones.
- Verifying compliance of drawings and reports as authorised by the Chief of Office of Airworthiness
- Providing engineering input for design proposals and estimates.
- Liaison with the other design leads regarding co-ordination of all aspects of design.
You'll be part of a small and efficient team consisting of 2x Cert Engineers, 2x Electrical Designers and 2 Mechanical Designers.
Core design is mission systems and integration for Police forces and also civilian aircraft (e.g. Western Power Distribution Mission System).
You'll work mainly on EC135, EC145 AW139 aircrafts.
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need extensive experience in an Aerospace Design role, working knowledge of EASA Part 21J and Certification Specifications and ideally have previous experience as a Part 21J Compliance Verification Engineer.
What else do I need to know?
- The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
