Supply Chain Development Manager - 12 month FTC

SF36989

Business Unit: Central Services

Location: Plymouth, Devon, GB, PL1 4SG

Starting salary: £44,205.00

About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit two Supply Chain Development Managers on 12 month fixed term contracts.

The Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP) is our client's new contracting framework designed to replace the Maritime Support Delivery Framework (MSDF) and Submarine Deep Maintenance Period (DMP) contracts. It will sustain over 9,400 jobs in the UK ensuring ongoing industrial support of the Royal Navy's capabilities, including new aircraft carriers, surface combatants and submarines as well as the infrastructure at the Naval Bases at Devonport and on the Clyde.

It is an ambitious programme designed to improve vessel availability, increase resilience of the maritime defence supply chain and ensure certainty of delivery, while also seeking substantial reductions in total support costs. Babcock must achieve all of these outcomes against a backdrop of increasingly complex commercial and regulatory requirements.

For Procurement and Supply Chain (P&SC), these increased complexities have created challenges in ensuring the function can deliver an effective and efficient value-adding service to the wider Babcock organisation and ultimately the UK MoD that remains compliant with all necessary requirements.

As a result, the supply chain function has embarked on an exciting, customer backed transformation programme which is designed to modernise our function and deliver the required transformation and associated benefits committed to our customer under FMSP.

The projects are focused on delivering functional best practise in the areas of contract management, supply planning, SRM, professional services and supply chain automation.

Therefore, we are looking for candidates who believe they could make a difference, and are keen to shape the future. The roles will require the candidates to manage stakeholders, analyse data to provide actionable insights and have skills in both project management and change management.

The main purpose of your role is to support the development of the supply chain function, implementing and managing transformation projects and programmes to ensure the function develops and can support the needs of the business to meet our customer deliverables and strategic aspirations.

The role will provide an opportunity to gain a holistic view of P&SC operations and an opportunity to positively shape the future processes, systems and tools used by the function that underpin effective service delivery and the relationship with the end customer.

As a member of a high calibre P&SC team, you will be expected to lead on significant development projects that are critical to delivering value and managing key risks to Babcock and have wide impact across the business and into the supply chain.

What do I need to do the role?

You will need a relevant Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent), professional accreditation - desirable (CIPS, CILT, APICS etc.) and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or above - desirable.

Would also like you to hold experience in the below:

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering supply chain transformation, including the application of Lean principles
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering value through the supply chain
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments
  • Experience managing risk to secure performance and business continuity
  • Experience working towards and achieving KPIs

Lastly, you will need to demonstrate excellent change management skills with an ability to build relationships, manage stakeholders effectively and remain delivery focused with a pragmatic hands on approach in complex, fast paced environments. You must have a strong knowledge of Supply Chain and associated best practice.

What else do I need to know?

  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
  • We are happy to talk about flexible working. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.
