Job Details

**Please note this position is open strictly to BCU Students Only**

Are you obsessed with YouTube and social media? Are you constantly capturing video clips to share with your followers, or feel passionate about sharing your experiences with the next generation of students? We're looking for current students to join our team of vloggers and produce a series of videos for the University's digital marketing activity over the next academic year (ending July 2022). This is an exciting opportunity to be the face of our student recruitment campaigns which reach hundreds of thousands of people online.

You'll be contributing to our video content on the 'Life at BCU' YouTube channel, as well as content on our website and social media channels. This will typically involve around two to four hours per week depending on requirements. There may also be further opportunity to support university events, such as our open days.

The videos may take the format of diary entries in your bedroom/home, or tours around the campus and city and even Hide and Seek in student accommodation. They are designed to provide an honest and relatable guide of what it's like to be a student at the University and share advice from personal experience on any key worries or issues faced by prospective or current students. You'll also have the opportunity to attend events and popular venues around the city to share what student life at BCU is like to prospective students - so you'll be having fun as well as sharing information.

Social media is an increasingly important aspect of the role - so we are looking for someone who is also able to appear on our Instagram Stories and TikTok regularly to promote their vlogs, cover our Open Days and day to day life around campus. We're looking for people who can be responsive, think quickly on their feet, adaptable to filming in different formats and are full of ideas for engaging content.

Key skills and person specification

*Must be confident in front of a camera.

*Must be able to speak in an informal, friendly style and consider your target audience, whilst being aware of maintaining the university's reputation and providing useful information.

*Be aware of information needed by prospective students about choosing a university and the things they may be worried about.

*Have basic video editing skills. Further training will be provided

*May have an interest in social media, vlogging, pursuing a TV presenting career, or getting work experience in a social media/digital marketing environment.

*Must be willing to share your own personal anecdotes about issues you have come across, currently experiencing or overcome during your time at the University.

*Able to work well with other students in the group

*Able to suggest ideas for future content.

This project would provide a valuable work experience opportunity if you're studying any of the following courses: Media and Communication / Acting / Marketing / Digital Marketing / Digital or Film Technology, or if you're interested in social media or blogging regardless of your course. You would gain exposure to the University's online audience - which currently includes over 22,500 Instagram followers, over 13,500 YouTube subscribers and our growing TikTok audience of 1,200 followers. This project is designed to grow and engage our audience further.

To Apply

Please apply with your CV then we will email you further details as we will ask you to film a short clip introducing yourself and tell us about 'The 3 best things about being a student at BCU'.
